Dr. Leanne Hepburn

Marine biologist

Dr. Leanne Hepburn is a Professor of Education and Environment at the University of Essex. Leanne is a creative educator and researcher who is passionate about innovative education, contemplative pedagogy, reefs, fisheries, sustainable solutions, equity, diversity and inclusion. Leanne has conducted marine research across the globe including the Caribbean, Indo-Pacific and Mediterranean. She mainly focusses on spatio-temporal dynamics in benthic community assemblages and the effects of environmental change. She has developed 2 new BSc degrees and 10 new modules and has been appointed to leadership roles including Director of Education, Director of Employability, Director Marine Biology and currently Director of the new interdisciplinary BSc Global Sustainability.
