Launch of FinSight Bahrain

🚨 Historic Milestone Alert | Launch of FinSight Bahrain’s Citizen Science Programme 🚨
On 25 January 2025, we officially launched Bahrain’s first-ever Sharks & Rays Ecology and Identification Workshop under the FinSight Project 🦈✨.
This workshop marked a groundbreaking achievement in the GCC region, being the first of its kind open to members of the public, inviting all ocean enthusiasts and conservation advocates to become trained citizen scientists from Bahrain and beyond!
Through our training workshops participants gain the tools and knowledge to assist in gathering critical data on elasmobranch species (sharks and rays), helping us better understand their composition and seasonality in Bahraini waters. Before dawn the next day, our first group of citizen scientists ventured into the fish market to apply what they learnt into real life data generation mode! We are so grateful to the EVE Lab for supporting this workshop through providing us with the space and believing in our mission!
The words of our founder, Dr. Reem AlMealla couldn’t echo more loudly, “This is more than just a workshop—it’s the beginning of a legacy where communities become empowered to protect marine biodiversity and contribute directly to research and conservation”.
Here’s to more milestones and to a future where science meets community action for conservation!
